Q + A : Learn all about Blaise!

Q: How did you get into making music?

A: I was born an entertainer and a pop star, and though my journey took me first through acting and musicals, improv and fashion, when I realized in 2010 that I didn’t want to live my life not doing what I was sent here to do, and that it was beneficial to my craft beyond belief to have been a student of all of those things, I  went alllllll in and haven’t looked back!

Q: What is "Still A Fool" about?

A: Still A Fool is a sonic sequel to a song off of my second album Velvet Noir called I’m a fool. In that song I speak about how no matter the bad, the fights, the missconnects that happen between me (or you) and the person the song is directed towards, you can’t help but be there and love them unconditionally. Still a fool is speaking from a stance of strength in that notion. Where I know I’m too good for this, I know I deserve better, but my heart is ride or die and I wanna see this through.

Q: What would you say to the younger version of yourself as the person you are now?

BABES! What you dream of you become! Dream louder and harder. What you create you become so never ever stop. And get those vocal lessons now baby! Refine and polish that diamond TODAY!

Q: What does the future of Blaise look like?

A: More music more visuals more shows more movies! I’m a lifer. I believe the only way you fail is to stop. I know I am a force of nature and that I deserve the world, and I will have it. With my vision, the support of my incredible band, I know that we will take over the world!

Did you know that there is a music video for “Still A Fool”?!

Q: Being such an important figure in our local LGBTQ+ community, what would you say to young queer artists starting to create and express themselves freely?

A: My community means everything to me. I try through every single thing I do through my art and my LIFE to show my community, and everyone, even those who don’t consider themselves part of it, that through unabashedly being true to yourself and what you believe and feel, you are FREE. I would want those queer artists to know it won’t be easy but it will be worth it. When you compromise your vision and your heart you lose your light, and EVERYONE get lost in the dark. Stand behind your message. Stand behind your vision. Meet other queer creatives and work TOGETHER.  Create a HAUS. Build each other UP.  Also study anything and everything that inspires you. You don’t need a lot of money to create the you that you want to be!  Finally, never limit what you can be with thoughts of failure.  As I said earlier in this interview, the ONLY way to fail is to stop. Love y’all!
